Reese Orchard originated on the site of our family's dairy farm, which Jack and Gloria Reese purchased in 1955. The Reeses have had experience growing fruit since the time of that farm purchase in 1955, which included peaches, muscadines, apples, figs, and pears. The farm is located in northeast Mississippi, about six miles from Mississippi State University and the adjacent town of Starkville. Although the dairy ceased operation many years ago, Jack and Gloria kept the farm as an idyllic place to raise their seven children. Several children and grandchildren and now great grandchildren continue to live on the farm.
Twenty-two years ago Jack and Gloria planted the 1st U pick blueberry orchard in their area. Since then the orchard has expanded to include all of the fruits listed above and now occupy about twenty acres of the farm. The orchards are irrigated to provide adequate moisture in times of drought. Since 1981 the orchards have been open to the public. Your enthusiastic support of our fruit growing endeavors has brought us great pleasure. No one enjoyed meeting and helping customers more than our co founder, Jack Reese. This beloved husband and father passed away on September 26, 2001. Our wonderful mother, Gloria, passed away June 25, 2002. The farm continues to be run by son David with other family members sometimes pitching in to help.
The enterprise is geared toward U Pick, and thousands of satisfied customers return year after year to our beautiful farm to select their own fruit straight from the fields.
